Somatic Therapy Online: Focusing & Imagery

Body-centred therapy for anxiety, trauma and overwhelm. Online across the UK, 60 minutes, £90.

Anxiety isn't only in your head. It can be a tight chest, a body that won't settle, or going numb when things get too much. The body never lies: it often holds what the mind can't yet face. Somatic therapy works with those physical patterns directly, rather than only talking about them.

This may help you if

  • Anxiety that feels physical: tension, tightness

  • a body that won't settle

  • Racing thoughts, shallow breathing, or always feeling on edge

  • Finding it hard to relax, even when nothing is wrong

  • Overwhelm, panic that feels out of proportion

  • shutting down under stress

  • Feeling disconnected from your body or emotions

  • The effects of trauma, including early or complex trauma

  • Being stuck despite years of insight or previous therapy

How I work

Every session is shaped around you. Sometimes we start with a sensation, a tight chest or a heavy stomach, and follow that thread inward. Other times we work with imagery, breath, or hands-on energy work. We might meet a younger part of you, or an aspect of yourself that's been buried. What matters is that the work is embodied: we don't just talk about change, we feel it happening.

My approach is integrative, relational and body-centred, informed by attachment and psychodynamic thinking. I draw on Focusing (Eugene Gendlin), imagery that arises naturally in sessions, and Brennan Healing Science®.

What can change

Change in this work tends to be gradual and felt in the body, not only understood. Over time, many clients notice:

  • Less anxiety and reactivity

  • More ability to settle and self-soothe

  • Feeling more grounded and present in their body

  • A quieter, stronger sense of self-trust

How sessions work

We slow down and pay attention to what's happening in your body, breath and emotions as we talk. Sometimes we start with a sensation, a tight chest or a heavy stomach, and follow that thread inward.

My somatic work is based on Focusing, developed by Eugene Gendlin, which I trained in during my two-year Brennan Integration Practitioner® programme. Focusing listens to the body's felt sense of a situation: the wordless, physical knowing that sits beneath thought.

Images often arise naturally as we work: a picture, a memory, something from a dream. When they do, we stay with them and let them unfold, as another way into what's hard to put into words. The aim isn't to analyse your body but to respect what it's telling you, so you can stop managing symptoms and start living in your body again.
